Making social cohesion ecocentric through Indigenous language and song
Hosted by University of Western Australia
This project develops and shares Nyoongar language and song in ways that reframe how we think about social cohesion, expanding it from a human-centric policy goal to include reciprocal relationships between everything in Country.
Project Aims
- 1 Develop Nyoongar language and song revitalisation activities in community and educational settings.
- 2 Investigate the reciprocal relationship between language, song and social and environmental connectedness.
- 3 Determine how Nyoongar creative responses can spur local, national, and international action on climate change and deforestation.
- 4 Explore how Nyoongar performance can develop more environmentally focused ways of thinking about social cohesion.
